What is Shared Branching?
Shared branching offers convenience and expanded service to PALCO members. The concept is simple - members can access their accounts through the teller line and take advantage of personal service at over 5,100 locations nationwide! We know how important it is for you to be able to take care of your financial business when you are on the go, even if our own branch isn't nearby. That's why PALCO is part of the CO-OP Shared Branch network. By sharing branches with hundreds of credit unions across the country, you can conduct transactions in branches of participating credit unions, just as if you were at PALCO.
In order to perform transactions at a shared branching location, you will need your PALCO account number and photo identification.
Here are some examples of services available at shared branching locations:
Deposits and withdrawals
Transfers between accounts
Account/loan Inquiries
Make loan payments (excludes VISA® payments)
Print transaction history
And more!
When looking for a shared branching location, look for the CO-OP Shared Branch Logo or visit co-opsharedbranch.org. You can also download an application for your Apple or Android smartphone. Shared branching is ideal for members who travel on business or pleasure, have children away at college, or relocate out of state - for any situation, it is easy and convenient.
Introducing Co-Op IDCheck: A New Layer of Security for Shared Branching
Launching May 1, 2025
To enhance security and protect against fraud, Co-op Shared Branch is introducing IDCheck, a new verification tool designed to confirm your identity before completing transactions. This streamlined process helps verify your government-issued ID and matches your information with your home credit union’s records—ensuring a safer, more seamless experience. All you need is your smart device when you visit a Co-op Shared Branch.
What You Need to Use IDCheck:
Smart device
Government issued identification
How It Works:
Scan the QR code provided at the branch.
Enter your credit union’s name (start typing and select from the dropdown).
Input your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
Take a picture of the front and back of your government-issued identification.
Snap a quick selfie to confirm your identity.
Receive a verification code – valid for 20 minutes – and provide it to the teller to complete your transaction.
It’s quick, secure, and designed to protect your account! Next time you visit a Shared Branch location, try Co-Op IDCheck and enjoy added peace of mind.
If you're unable to complete IDCheck, don’t worry—transactions can still be processed using standard verification methods but will be limited to protect your account.
